The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the setting star, 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
