Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
