So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
