The Pharaoh said to the chiefs around him: "He is certainly a clever magician. 34 "He wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery, then what is it your counsel, and what do you command?" 35 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 36 That they should bring to you every skillful magician. 37 So the sorcerers were assembled for the appointed time of a fixed day. 38 and the people were told, "Will you also gather together, 39 Haply we shall follow the sorcerers if it should be they are the victors.' 40 So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win? 41 He replied, "Certainly, in that case you will join my inner circle." 42 Moses said to the magicians, "Throw down whatever you are going to throw." 43 So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!" 44 Then Moses cast down his staff and suddenly it swallowed up what they had falsely invented. 45 And the magicians were thrown down prostrate; 46 They said, 'We believe in the Lord of all Being, 47 and the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 48 Said Firaun, “You accepted faith in him before I permitted you! He is indeed your leader who taught you magic; so now you will come to know; I swear, I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides, and crucify all of you.” 49 They said: "No harm! Surely, to our Lord (Allah) we are to return; 50 “We hope that our Lord will forgive us our mistakes, as we are the first to believe.” 51
