Alshu'araa' 9 of 11

[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lut said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 163 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Then We destroyed the others. 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
