The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
