Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "I preached to them aloud, in public. 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 "'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
