The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
