The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
