Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
