۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
