He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
