Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
