He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 You pay full attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
