The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer, 8 two bows' length away, or nearer, 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
