The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news - 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
