The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
