The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
