The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
