The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
