The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the shining star -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
