۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 They said: "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify." 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
