Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 when he ran away to the laden ship 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 And were he not one of those who praise. 143 He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 and they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Now surely it is of their own lie that they say: 151 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! 152 Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Or have you received some clear authority? 156 Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful! 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 we are the rangers, 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 So turn away from them for a while. 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 And leave them for a time. 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 And praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. 182

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
