۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people. 58 Jesus was a servant of Ours to whom We had granted favors and whom We made as an example for the Israelites. 59 And had We willed We could have appointed angels born of you in the earth to succeed each other. 60 Verily he (i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way. 61 And let not Shaitan (Satan) hinder you (from the right religion, i.e. Islamic Monotheism), Verily, he (Satan) to you is a plain enemy. 62 And when Eisa came to them with clear signs, he said, “I have come to you with wisdom, and to explain to you some of the matters regarding which you dispute; therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 63 For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship Him: that is a straight path." 64 But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day. 65 Await they aught save the Hour, that it shall come upon them suddenly, when they know not? 66 Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous 67
