Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of those which carry away while dispersing. 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
