Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
