The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, "Indeed they have gone astray." 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
