Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
