The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 and I swear by the parent and his offspring: 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not give him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 [It is] the freeing of one's neck [from the burden of sin,] 13 or giving food on a day of hunger 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 or to a destitute lying in dust; 16 then that he become of those who believe and counsel each other to be steadfast, and counsel each other to be merciful. 17 Such are they that have attained to righteousness; 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
