In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the loosed ones successively 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 Whether of Justification or of Warning;- 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 And when the heaven is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 For what day is it timed? 12 To the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 thus do We deal with the culprits. 18 On that day, woe upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 19 Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames; 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 Nor given leave to make excuses. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
