The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night that falls, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
