We have sent no Prophet to any city but that We seized its people with misery and hardship, that haply they might be humble; 94 then We gave them in the place of evil good, till they multiplied, and said, 'Hardship and happiness visited our fathers.' So We seized them suddenly, unawares. 95 Had the people of those towns believed in and feared God, We would have showered upon them blessings from heaven and earth, but they rejected the truth. So We seized them on account of their misdeeds. 96 Did the people of the towns then feel secure against the coming of Our Punishment by night while they are asleep? 97 Or, did the people of the towns then feel secure against the coming of Our Punishment in the forenoon while they play? 98 Are they oblivious to Allah’s secret plan? So none is unafraid of Allah’s secret plan except the people of ruin! 99
