۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 Abraham said to himself, "By God! I will devise a plan against their idols when they are away." 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them – the one called Ibrahim.” 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 But then they relapsed into their former way of thinking and said: "Thou knowest very well that these [idols] cannot speak!" 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
