Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
