The people of Lut rejected the messengers. 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 And We rained down upon them a rain, and evil was the rain on those warned. 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
