Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 and they said: "Are we to follow one single mortal, one from among ourselves? In that case, behold, we would certainly sink into error and folly! 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warnings. 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 a blessing from Us; even so We recompense him who is thankful. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance.
