I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the receding night 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except those on the right side. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
