The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
