The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And no trifle. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
