Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
