۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They said, “We found our forefathers worshipping them.” 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 By the Lord, I will devise a plan against your deities after you have gone away and turned your backs!" 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak. 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They exclaimed: "Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!" 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 We admitted him to Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
