The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
