Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

And by the sun and its brightness; 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 TO [THIS] TRUTH gave the lie, in their overweening arrogance, [the tribe of] Thamud, 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 So the Noble Messenger of Allah said to them, “Stay away from the she camel of Allah, and from its turn to drink.” 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
