1/4 Hizb 17
< random >
The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 The others suggested holding Moses and his brother off and sending to all the cities 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said: "O Musa (Moses)! Either you throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all." 124 They said, “We shall return to our Lord.” 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
