To Aad (We sent) their brother Hood. He said: 'My nation, worship Allah; you have no god except He. You are only forgers. 50 I ask of you nothing in return for this [Message]. My recompense is with Him who has created me. Why do you not use your reason? 51 O My people! ask forgiveness of your Lord, then repent toward Him; He will send the heaven upon you pouring, and He will add you strength upon your strength, and turn not away as guilty ones. 52 They replied: 'Hood, you have not brought us a clear sign. We will not forsake our gods because of what you say. We do not believe you. 53 All we can say is that some of our gods have smitten you with evil." He replied:" I call God to witness, and you be witness too, that I am clear of what you associate (in your affairs) 54 "Other gods as partners! so scheme (your worst) against me, all of you, and give me no respite. 55 Verily I rely on Allah, my Lord and your Lord; no moving creature is there but He holdeth it by its forelock; verily my Lord is on the straight path. 56 "But if you choose to turn away, then [know that] I have delivered to you the message with which I was sent unto you, and [that] my Sustainer may cause another people to take your place, whereas you will in no wise harm Him. Verily, my Sustainer watches over all things!" 57 And when Our command came, We rescued Hud and the Muslims who were with him, by Our mercy; and We saved them from a severe punishment. 58 And such were A'ad. They denied the revelations of their Lord and flouted His messengers and followed the command of every froward potentate. 59 They were pursued by a curse in this world as they will be on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, the 'Ad denied their Lord. So away with the 'Ad, the people of Hud! 60
