Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 By the luminious Book. 2 that We have revealed the Quran on a blessed night to warn mankind. 3 During it are distributed all the works of wisdom. 4 A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of apostles), 5 as a Mercy from your Lord. Surely He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing, 6 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them: if you would only have sure faith. 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and makes to die; your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. 8 In fact, the unbelievers have doubts because of excessive involvement in worldly affairs. 9 So watch for the Day when the sky will come down with a pall of smoke, 10 Which would envelope mankind. That would be a grievous affliction. 11 'Our Lord, remove this punishment from us, we are believers' 12 But how will they take heed? Such are they that a Messenger came to them clearly expounding the Truth, 13 then they turned away from him and said, 'A man tutored, possessed!' 14 We now remove the punishment for some days so you will again commit the same. 15 On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution. 16 ۞ We tried the people of Pharaoh before them: a noble messenger was sent to them, 17 Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you. 18 And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority. 19 “And I take the refuge of my Lord and yours, against your stoning me.” 20 "But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone." 21 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “These are a guilty nation!” 22 And [God said]: "Go thou forth with My servants by night, for you will surely be pursued; 23 And leave the sea behind you as calm as ever. Surely they are an army that is doomed to be drowned.” 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 corn-fields, gracious mansions, 26 And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! 27 Thus it was. And [then] We made another people heirs [to what they had left,] 28 And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again). 29

Notes and Instructions
ColorfulQuran.com displays pages in one of three Arabic fonts. Each may appear with a one-third chance, adding more diversity to the already diverse colors. And the words remain unchanged forever. ColorfulQuran.com will have more beautiful fonts soon, God willing.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
