The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
