The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
