The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
