The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
